Staying engaged and involved
Updated: Jul 2
Engagement and involvement are two crutial aspects to modern education, and are two elements every teacher must learn to address.
Start with involvement. One of the best ways to involve students in their education is to bring them into the conversation. As teachers strive to determine how students best learn, they can ask questions. Aside from the obvious "how do you best learn," teachers should ask what topics actually interest their students. Imagine a student telling a teacher that they like monkeys, and the next math lesson includes monkeys trying to do math. Or a student proclaiming a love of space, and the next history class includes a short bio of the first known person to study space. When students know that they are heard, they are more willing to listen and engage.
